John Malcolm

Experience in restoration spanning
over four decades

John Malcolm Fine Art Restoration was established in 1974. I am a third generation restorer and probably one of a very few number that still survive today. My family were involved in conservation from many years ago working for H.M. government museums, both my grandfather and my father were in conservation all their lives. I was apprenticed into conservation from the age of eight and worked at weekends and evenings leaning about the skills required and putting them into practice, and then on leaving school I worked for several years for two eminent London restorers.

I consider myself to have had the best training in the field of conservation possible. This knowledge for over forty years has given me the best experience necessary and a vast accumulated knowledge of the profession allowing me to undertake all conservation with a degree of care and attention and provide an exemplary service to my clients.

My clients over the years have included Croydon Museum, Swakleys House, Stationers Hall, The Carlton Club, The Society of The Apothecaries, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Hellenic Auctions and many other large companies as well as private collections to numerous mention both in the U.K. and internationally.
